Misfiring in Cylinder 1
I own a 1999 Hyundai Elantra 2.0 Automatic Transmission vehicle. I took it to Autozone and they printed out a sheet with some DTC's on it.
PO732 Gear Ratio Incorrect PO442 Evap Emission Control Leak (Small) PO301 Cylinder 1 Misfire Detected Since before I first had my car serviced at Hyundai a few months ago. There were other codes stored in the ECM that were. PO747 Pressure Control Solenoid Valve Stuck On PO743 Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Electrical PO732 Gear 2 Incorrect Ratio PO734 Gear 4 Incorrect Ratio. At the time I took it in, I changed the Transmission fluid and filter and then all of this happened to my car. I don't have reverse currently and it use to slam into second gear and the overdrive gear is out. If I try to put the overdrive switch on it will just rev up. Now, I am having problems with the car idling very rough in idle and throughout the srive shifting. I checked all of the plugs and wires and attempted to check the Primary on the coil from the supply connector #3 with key in the run position (Not running) and there is no power but, the car does run????? Any ideas on all of this??? LOL, it's alot I know but, any help will be appreciated. |
RE: Misfiring in Cylinder 1
your misfire concern is mostly like you need new plug wires, your 732 734 747 are transmission codes. that trans is no good. the 442 is an evap system leak. right now you're looking at a new or used transmission and a tune up(or set of spark plug wires). to verify it's the wires you can pull the plug wire for cylinder number one hold it close to the intake manifold(YOU MIGHT GET SHOCKED) you will see the spark arching to show to the wire is leaking. or YOU MIGHT JUST HAVE A FAULTY COIL PACK.

RE: Misfiring in Cylinder 1
I really appreciate your help. I did test the cylinder 1 spark plug wire with a tester and it did arc really good. However, I tried to follow the manual to check the coils' wiring harness for power on the #3 pin with the key in the start position (not running) and I checked it with a volt meter and got nothing. But, the car will start up and run.... Very wierd. lol. So, you say I need a new tranny huh?

RE: Misfiring in Cylinder 1
That sucks :( lol. What about the problem with the cylinder 1 misfiring? I tested the plug wire and plug and it arced great. If I have the key in the start position (not running), should I have power going to the Coil at the wiring harness???? I believe the color on that wire is Blue/Yellow.

RE: Misfiring in Cylinder 1
no i'm not telling you to test to see if it archs good, what you are looking for is along the side of the plug wire put it close to the intake manifold and check to see if spark comes through the side of the wire instead of the tip of the spark plug. what you can also do is with the car not running inspect the wire to see if there is any burnt spots on the wire. when getting wires i would recommend getting them from the dealer as i have seen new ones(aftermarket fail easily cause the same misfire problems).

Good day, I have found a new problem that is toggling my brain. One of my pistons close to the coil pack has stopped firing completely. We have swopped wires and plugs. They do work. I have spark on the spark plug and is working. The compression is good. But not firing, we have confirmed by test that the coil pack is not the fault. There is n ticking sound on the injector. Is there a other way of checking if the injector is working or getting power. Please help. Car is running high on petrol usage.

Check to see if there is power and ground going to the injector
Then check to see if there is a firing signal from the ECU If it looks okay then try using the back end of a screwdriver to tap on the injector. |
