no spare?

the 2011 Elantra doesn't come with a donut/spare, but with some kind of patching pack they say will solve most problems (or call roadside service.) would it be prudent to buy a spare (or donut) and keep it in the trunk -- or am I being old fashioned?

It's all about weight saving and fuel mileage.. then we give you a can of "FIX-a-FLAT"...but we say not to put liquid stuff in the tires because it will goof the TPMS sensor.

You could call Roadside, but it is a farce, as you do not get a voice, then it'll be an hr, and fella does not carry new tire anyway, so you get towed to nearest Hyundai dealer, and they're closed.

Go buy the spare parts that did not come with car, then you can be on your way quicker, and car will be maybe 30lb heavier all the time and foul the gas mileage.

Yes, you can buy a spare and a jack. Maybe from a junkyard. Just don't complain when your fuel economy goes down slightly due to the extra weight.

My spare tire, jack, tools and styrofoam cost me $100.00. I am old fashioned and I refuse to sit by the side of the road and wait for a tow if I put something through the sidewall. Now that I am prepared, I know I'll never use them.

Where'd you get your stuff for 100 buck$?

Got the jack, tools and styrofoam off E bay for $70.00---got the tire here in Pittsburgh for $30.00.
