Poor radio reception

I have a 2004 Hyundai elantra that gets poor radio reception. I have recently purchased a new HD head unit and still have poor reception. I am looking into mounting a new antenna such as the 2007 and newer models that have them on the roof. Is this the best bet or can something be done with the current setup.

RE: Poor radio reception

trace the antenna wire from behind the radio and check for loose connection, it normally goes to either the driver or passenger kick panel. sometimes that's where the connector is.

RE: Poor radio reception

I have the same radio reception problem. My daughter's 2004 GT sedan with the Kenwood OE radio had horrible FM reception. I replaced it earlier this year with a JVC HU and it, too, has horrible FM reception. I've heard or read somewhere that the cause is actually interference from the cruise control module and not the antenna itself. Any one ever really figure this out or the solution?
