Shift Knob

I bought a 2002 elantra last week and i want to change the shift knob. It is an automatic and i was wondering how to remove the stock knob. I can feel a hole for a wrench on the back of it. Is it easy to remove?

Thanks,
Ryan

RE: Shift Knob

You need to remove the small phillips head screw holding it on.It is fairly simple just keep track of the spring inside. Some have phillips on front and back some just on front.remove the screws and replace it.

They have aftermarket automatic shift knobs for those? Or are you putting on a stocker that's less worn-out?

I found some shift knobs on Ebay. I'm not sure if it will fit in my Elantra though but i hope it will.

If I was you, I would go ahead and remove the shift knob, take a measurement of the mounting hole and screw holes, and take pictures of the mounts, then email them to the seller asking him for pictures and dimensions of the one he's selling, and be sure to include the pictures and dimensions of yours that you took. This will save you the headache of getting the part and realizing that it doesn't fit, not to mention that it'll save your eBay feedback rating a few points as well.
