Timing belt or chain?
 

I bought a 2016 Elantra that was manufactured in April of 2015. Does it have a timing belt or timing chain?

Both the 2.0L Nu and the 1.4L Kappa use chains

What does the 1.8L have?

The 1.8L is also a Nu engine and has a chain.

it is 2.0L engine 2017.

I thought I answered that above. Did you read the thread? 2016 and 2017 are the same generation Elantra with the same engine.
