Trouble cold starting

Hi all, first post on this forum.
Having lots of trouble getting my 2005 Elantra (45,000 km) to start recently, but OK, sort of, when warmed up. Starting up, it either clicks over and dies or it starts idling at 1200rpm, then 5 - 20 secs it dies, with no "engine trouble" light coming on. The only way I can get it to continuosly to run is to keep it revving at 3000 rpm until it gets warm, then idles "relatively" comfortable at 800 rpm.

Have called my road service mob out to help start it, and he said it was the original battery that was more than likely causing the problem. I was on my way to see my mechanic anyway, for a service, so he put in a new battery. Drove to work and it "coughed" but no trouble otherwise. But starting it to go home was a different matter. Its now back at the mechanics and they seem to be scratching their heads.

A month ago I had to get it towed to the mechanics as it died on me on the local highway. A faulty camshaft angle sensor and crankshaft (?) sensor were identified but with no absolute confidence as their diagnostic software can't read Hyundai's.

The car went OK up until 5 days ago. Not too sure if the two problems are related or not. Just hoping someone here can shed some light on the problem.

Sorry for the long post and thanks in advance.
