Canadian 2011 Touring radio removal
Hi, I’m trying to remove the radio if my Canadian 2011 Elantra Touring. It looks like the picture from the OP of this thread https://www.hyundaiforum.com/forum/hyundai-elantra-touring-i30-45/radio-removal-canadian-version-8200/
Can anyone show me what tools are needed to get the radio out? Thanks.

Are you planning to do some repairs or replace the present radio?
The reason I ask this is , if you are planning on replacing the radio with a different one, something of which you should be aware.
Starting in 2008 all vehicles sold in the US operate on a CAN bus (network) and the network is composed of several modules and the original radio is one of the modules.
If that module is removed the network will go down and communication within the network becomes a problem. Suggest you verify this with a local dealership service dept. before purchasing a radio you may not be able to use.

Just to note that I replaced the radio in my 2011 Canadian Elantra Touring with a third party radio without any CANBUS issues. Mine was the basic Hyundai single-DIN CD player/radio unit. Possibly a more expensive one with a steering wheel remote has a CANBUS issue..
I had to remove the console and rearrange the wiring harness behind the radio to get the Sony unit to fit snugly: just pushing wiring to the other side of a bracket - no surgery required.

I wish some people would stop posting the 'OMG CaN BuZ!!' warning that just confuses and puts people off.
The i30's stereo does not use CAN for anything. There are no CAN connections to the stereo, there is no CAN wiring anywhere near the stereo. CAN is not involved in the stereo in any way whatsoever. The floor mats don't use CAN either!
No fibre optics, no MOST bus, it's as simple as a stereo as you'll ever find. Even the USB connection in the armrest that some cars have is just four core shielded cable like granny used to use.
The steering controls are resistive, the temperature sensor is resistive, the speed signal is a PWM signal. There's no CAN. I've had every bit of those wiring looms apart up until the 2012 touring.
Sleep easy my friends, this stereo upgrade is a simple one! As mzb has discovered, great work!!
