Elantra Touring 2011 - idle surge issue

When car is started in the AM or engine is cold the idle surges to 2000 RPMs, settles to approx 1500-1600, then when the engine warms the idle goes to normal 700-800 RPMs. I have been to the dealer multiple times for this and they are saying this is normal, even though they reset the computer multiple times. It did not do this when the car was new and now I have over 50k on it. I have 5 different manufactures vehicles and none of them have this issue and this is not normal to me. I have another sched appt this week to see again what they are going to do. Anybody have any idea what might be causing the issue? Thanks

Actually, that is not unusual for a car when starting it cold. However, I guess you could have the IAC checked (Idle Air Control).

It did not do this when it was new and none of my other cars do this, even in the winter time when it is 20 degrees. I drop it off again to the dealer to what they can find.

Thanks

I didn't realize that might be a problem, because mine does the same. It's done it for quite some time now. I'm not sure why it would be a problem.

I did take the vehicle back to the dealer and they said once again they could not find anything at that it was normal. Well it did not do it when it was new. The summer time may not be an issue, but when it is 10-20 degrees outside you don't start a vehicle and race the engine, the oil is cold and thick and needs to warm up. The dealer only is looking for an error code. They did not change anything to even try to troubleshoot it. I am now running out on the warranty so I will be stuck on my dime to fix it at some point. THIS IS NOT NORMAL. Thanks

Normal. No problem to fix.
