P0420 Data Point
My sister reported a new CEL on her 2010 Elantra Touring a couple weeks ago, coinciding with a louder than normal engine exhaust noise.
Scanning with a generic OBDII diagnostic tool returned DTC P0420 Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1).
Local indy shop found the original front exhaust flex pipe needed replacement -- this is where the front O2 sensor is mounted.
Refitting a new front exhaust pipe (28610-2H300) with the old O2 sensor resolved the CEL, P0420 code, and exhaust noise. --g
