Default steering column on 2009 ET...

Anyone with the tilt/telescope steering...

Does your column move some side to side when the lever is in the unlocked position? Mine does...just curious...found that odd

Arrgh..the tilt telescope of my car is all jacked up... not only is it really difficult to move in and out...and there is this metal piece that quite visibly pokes out against the softer rubber part(between the bottom of the speedo cluster/top of the steering column) when the wheel is pushed "in" Anyone know what that is.

Car goes in next week....

I have a 2011 model. My steering column does not move side to side, nor does it have a metal piece that poke out that I have noticed (though I keep mine extended out most of the way).

Good to know...Thanks Sapient.

I hope its simple to fix, but I fear the entire column may have been installed improperly. The steering wheel offsets despite wheel calibration indicating otherwise...its difficult to move in and out and I can hear a a definite rubbing sound, the column has play in it in the unlocked position. Then theres the mystery metal item that pokes into the rubber piece when the wheel is telescoped to the "in" position.
