2007 Entourage. Recently I had to replace the brake light switch due to not being able to take out of PARK. The bad switch was also not turning on brake lights nor allowing me to set cruise control. The new switch allows me to move the shift lever, and at first set the cruise. After short drive my cruise would not work and the brake lights wouldn't come on when my foot was on the petal. Still able to put into gear though. Tracing out the problem I found the fuse for the brake lights had blown. Replaced fuse, drove short time. New fuse blows.

I don't want to chase out wiring grounds. Light sockets are in good condition, no rust or corrosion.

Could the replaced switch be defective? Or is there a deeper cause?
