P0171 and P0174
My Entourage's Check Engine Light has been turning on and off for the past week. I took it in and had it scanned and came up with the P0171 and P0174 codes. Everything I have found online suggests that the hose between the MAFS and something else. I'm not even sure where the MAFS is. Can someone help me out here and is this something I can fix on my own?

Those 2 codes are for a lean condition on Bank 1 and Bank 2 (basically, both sides of the engine. That usually means a leak in the intake hose (between the Mass Air Flow sensor and the Throttle Body). That is a very common problem with the Entourage and the Kia Sedona. It happened to my Kia Sedona. It was replaced under warranty. If you are the original owner it should still be covered.

If it is not covered, how do I fix the issue? Is this a situation where I have to replace the hose or can I patch it somehow?
|
Did you get it sorted ? If not It would be best overall to replace it but as stated it should be covered.

Hello
I have code PO174 on Hyundai Tuscon 2005-2.7 engine. I have replaced the MAF, had smoke test which was negative for any leaks, all hoses are fairly new on this vehicle, had O2 sensor Bank 2 sensor 1 replaced. Replaced oil cap. Only to have the code come back, any further suggestions would be helpful if anyone can help. thanks Amin |
The MAF is a sensor that is usually located between the air filter and the intake plenum.
Can be found on the plastic air hose. The codes are usually an indicator of vacuum leaks When the engine warms up, the condition for the code can disappear Not always. If however you have done all the replacing of parts and checked for vacuum leaks Then I would check the wiring for shorts or opens, powers and grounds. One that has occurred is the O2 sensor wiring under the vehicle gets frayed Anyway, all guesses. Good luck to you |
thanks I will check all wiring, just in case.

All wiring on the sensors are good. I replaced the hosing between the EGR valve and the air intake hose just after the MAF. Engine light went off, thinking all is good. Drove approximately 40 miles only to have the check engine light on again. anyone have any other suggestions.

Scan for codes again.
Sorry can't help much. |
I had this code for about a year, I couldn't find what was going on, wrong with the system. Changed the mass flow meter, etc...no change. It only appeared on the highway. Once erased, around town driving never threw the code. While my car was in for service, I told Hyundai about it and they found the exhaust manifold broken. Replaced it and now no codes.
