Tailgate Lift Supports?
Does anyone know if the tailgate lift supports are different for the powered vs. non-powered tailgate? I have the power tailgate option on my 2007 Entourage, and the gate does not stay open in the cold weather, it opens then closes right away. Dealer says this is common in cold climates due to the gas in the supports contracts when it is cold. He said I could replace them: $173 each support! Mechanic told me there is nothing special about them. Found aftermarket supports online for ~$25 each, but says for non-powered. I'm thinking there is no difference as there is no power going to the supports, there is a separate motor/lift arm for the tailgate. Am I right?? Thanks.

My Kia Sedona does the same thing.
Looking at online Hyundai Parts webpages, they list different parts for power vs manual liftgate (as well as left vs right) so they may be different. However, they have them available for about $55 each. http://www.newhyundaiparts.com/secca...0089/25/20089/ http://www.hyundaipartdepot.com/part...icleid=1433384 And yes, there is a separate motor/lift arm for the tailgate. You can see it on the drivers side of the opening. |
Thanks for the info. The price is the same for powered and non-powered, and no part # listed that I could see, which leads me to believe they are the same. I'm in Canada, so I'll see what I can find here first.

They don't list part number but they are different.
