I20 won't engage first gear
Evening All.
In September I bought a new I20 from a Hyundai dealer, and have since put less than 1000 miles on the clock (approx 900 at the time of writing). The car has had absolutely no accidents/issues/near misses and to my eye is in perfect condition.
In the last month I have noticed that on a few occasions, the car has failed to engage first gear from neutral whilst stationary. The car has then been okay if I go into second, and then into first gear. Each time, this has happened at a red light, with the engine idling.
Is this something that anybody has seen before? - As the car is brand new I did not expect to have any sort of issue this early (I didn't expect any issues at all until at least 2 years / 30,000 miles). I have contacted Hyundai customer services and they have essentially said "go and take it into a hyundai service center, but if they don't find any manufacturing errors then I have to pay diagnostics and repairs. This seems unreasonable to be given the vehicles age and mileage.
Any thoughts well received!
