Air conditioning problem
 

Hi,

My H1 (2007 2.5 CRDI) is the 9 seat version and it has separate air conditioning for the front and the back.

Recently I had a pipe changed because the air conditioning wouldn't hold a charge.

When this was done, about 2 months ago, everything was fine, very cold air and no problems. I had only used the air conditioning in the front of the car until last week, when I had people in the rear and they turned on the air conditioning in the rear. Since then, I have not got any cold air, not in the front or in the rear.

Any ideas?

Take it back to whoever serviced the AC
They may have not given enough refrigerant??
Ask to see if they can check it for free??

I have booked the car in for next week, at the same Hyundai garage who fitted the new pipe. I am hoping to get any information possible, to be prepared for whatever they might say. Spanish garages are not the most honest and genuine :)

It may have leaked out
But won't know until it gets checked
Asking for the garage or dealer to look at it after their work is only natural
However, asking if they would check it for free is necessary if you don't want to get charged for it

I'd love to see people getting back telling the audience what the problem/solution finally was ...

Since I had the same problem with my Trajet a few years back: The a/c has one compressor but two evaporators and a separator solenoid valve. Front refrigerant circuit is always enabled, rear part only if you activate it. The refrigerant lines to the rear evaporator are made of aluminum and loosely covered with some plastic liner, so humidity gets trapped easily. They corrode and you lose all of the refrigerant instantly once you activate 'a/c rear'. That said, a shop doing leak test and recharge without rear part of the system active should be taken away refrigerant handling license.
I brought mine to a specialized A/C shop and they replaced all the lines to the rear section with custom made hoses. Holds up well for 8 years now without a gram of refrigerant added.
