02 Power Steering Hose Help
 

Hello,
just bought an 02 from a friend. Power steering leaks to the point that the reservoir is empty after 5 miles. This was known before I bought it and friend gave me the replacement hose. When I got underneath, I found that the hose isn't the right one. The hose that has a 2 cm long split in it is the higher hose of the two coming off of the part located roughly under the steering wheel. It then wraps around the left side of the engine (if you're facing the engine) and goes under the radiator. Sorry for the great description. I'm good at fixing, but don't always know the technical name of a part. Anyway, the hose that is split is an OEM part with the number 57544-26300. I cannot find a match on any website.

Can anyone offer advice here?

There are usually 2 hoses coming from the power strg pump. one is a pressure hose and the other is a return hose.
Most of the time the pressure hose is crimped at both ends and the return hose is held at the reservoir with a small hose clamp because there is not that much pressure on that hose.. What you might consider is , if possible, remove the damaged hose and take it to either your local auto supply store ( I would call there first to confirm they have it) and match it before leaving the store or ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,call a Hyundai dealer parts dept ( have vin # ready) and see if they have it. That way you should get the correct part the first time. I'm sure you are aware if the pwr strg fluid gets low enough it can destroy the pump.

There are times if you build a relationship with some auto supply stores (NAPA), if they have the part they just might deliver it to you.
Don't forget to get addl pwr strg fluid while you are at it !
