The only way a condenser can produce an electrical problem would be if it causes certain pressure switches to not work correctly and therefore the compressor would not work or might stay energized all the time.

Whenever defrost is selected on most systems the A/C compressor is activated also.
When all functions are off nothing should be activated.
At this point it needs to be determined what is staying on (energized) when nothing is selected,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,if,,,,,,,,,,, that is what is happening.
