07 Santa Fe Problems
 

I have owned my 07 Santa Fe for two years, and only in the last year have I noticed a few problems creeping up. At first I didn't connect the problems, but I am thinking they all might be related - electrical.

My latest is being able to open my fuel latch remotely from the driver's door. About 6 mos ago it began only working intermittently and has only gotten worse. Yesterday I wasn't able to open it at all, and I need to get gas in the next day or two! So I found in the manual that I can release the fuel lid from the inside of the back compartment, so I hope that solves the immediate problem. But I still want to get the remote switch working as designed.

In the past year, I discovered the DVD system doesn't work. When I had it checked at the dealer, they said the system is broken, and would cost about $800; but I could find my own system at a much cheaper cost. Also the screen on my radio intermittently would go blank, or show weird symbols. Sometimes when I turn it off, it clears itself and shows normal. No problem with the radio itself though.

So now I am wondering if these problems are all related by electrical problems. Initially with remote fuel switch, I checked the fuses under the dash. But I wasn't aware of the other places to check.

Any suggestions?

I too have 2007 Santa Fe. On really hot days, I can turn on the radio, and the face plate will be blank. The radio plays Ok, you just can see what station is on. After the air has been on for a while, I can turn off the engine and restart. The dial now displays the station data.

You must be a second owner.

Good luck chasing down the problem. I hope your dealer is as good as mine. They are A-one on all my problems.

I did have the 5 CD player and radio replaced in my 2010 Sonata Limited, and when I got it back, the X-M radio had been turned on for a year for my problems. Nice.
