2001 Santa Fe Issue - Oil Pressure Light, Loss of Power, and Buzzing sound
Do I bought this 2001 Santa Fe yesterday off of some hippie that knew nothing about cars. I am having some intermittent issues that I am trying to diagnose and repair.
I have a flickering oil pressure light. It flickers worse or stays lit when I am idling while stopped or under 2000 RPM. It is worse when I am in stop and go traffic. I am noticing an occasional loss of power, and a buzzing sound on the passenger side low in the engine bay. I don't see any fresh oil leaks, but I do notice some old residue near the pulleys. Especially near the power steering column. The loss of power is consistent with the buzzing noise and flickering oil pressure light. Today, I noticed white, thick exhaust in my rear view mirror. I could also smell a stink. Not a burning smell really. And then both the white exhaust and smell just went away. It will occasionally stall, but then start right back up. I have plenty of oil and fluids. No engine lights or codes. I have not had the pressure tested with a gauge yet. Any ideas? 2001 Santa Fe GL 2.4 V4 FWD |
If the oil pressure problem isn't being caused by a loose wire or connector then it might need a new oil pump.
Check the oil level. See if there is any oil on the alternator. |
In this case 2 choices:
-dump it into the sea (lake) -look her really close, every detail; it may be to dangerous to drive this thing (neglected) |
