2004 Hyundai Santa Fe-Engine Question

Replaced water pump, drive belt, timing belt and pulleys, wires, plugs, thermostat, radiator. My question: the top radiator hose is hot, the bottom cold. Engine guage is normal. Is this normal? If not, how do I check to see if I have a collapsed hose, should the bottom hose be ice cold? I am afraid to keep engine running for too long, don't want to ruin the engine. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thank you

My bet is on thermostat, that does not open.Installed in reverse order (just possibility),or cheap aftermarket ones. They don't work sometimes. My guess,I never had this problem.
