2006 2.4L 4 Cylinder Santa Fe Clutch won't engage

Bought used at 67K km, now has about 75K. Still under 5 yr/100,000 km warranty. Clutch suddenly stopped engaging. Dealer says have to pull tranny to look see. Any experience/suggestions/comments? Anything warranted?

Clutch is expendable part... likely not warranty..

Clarify does not engage..

Driving down road and mash gas pedal and engine speed flares while vehicle speed dont increase with engine speed ---- clutch wore out.. it slipping..

2.4 parts not cheap, dual mass flywheel is close to $800 alone, add disc, pressure plate, release bearing, 3 qt of Hyundai semi-synthetic GL-4 oil, and labor... OUCH

No kidding. Clutch totally slipped, no power transfer at all. Turns out the pressure plate sheared and by the time all was done the clutch looked like a flame thrower had been at it. It's single mass, so even more expensive.

Note on the dealers: I towed it to them and they put in 5 hours removing the transmission, "to see if it was warranty work". That was them taking advantage of an unknowledgable customer. They knew it would be the unwarranted clutch, so I was already on the hook for their "look-see" at $99/hr without even knowing it.

Best way to handle a failing clutch on one of these things - pay about half what Hyundai wants for the replacement (I was quoted $1,050 vs Hyundai's $2,190) at a reputable private shop with aftermarket parts, which are cheaper and probably better. The shop will warrant the installation same as Hyundai, for 20,000 km (12,000 miles)

Based on what I've learned from this, I figure I'll have to set aside about $1,500 every year (we do about 60k a year) for a preventive maintenance replacement.
