2007 Santa Fe Suspension

Does anyone know of upgrades to the rear suspension? I have a trailer mounted morocycle carrier and I need to do something to the rear so it does not sag/sink.

RE: 2007 Santa Fe Suspension

I wouldn't modify the suspension, but would invest in a weight equalizing or weight distributing hitch. These have a pair of weight transfer bars that extend back along both side of the "A" frame on the front of the trailer that are latched up to the trailer frame by chains. The bar are made of spring steel and come sized for different load rating to match your situation. This type of hitch transfers the center of gravity forward while it flattens out the load. Goto:

for examples. The beauty of this setup is that when not pulling the trailer, the drive and ride of the Santa Fe is unaffected. You can also add a anti-sway bar if you think the trailer in steering the Santa Fe more than the other way around. You may have to invest in a stouter receiver for the Santa Fe to use this type of hitch, but I think those are also available:

For years I pulled a 4,400 lb camp trailer with an Explorer equipped with this style of hitch. It made a bad situation quite liveable.
