My wifes 2010, she ran into a truck with the huge trailer hitch hanging out of the back (IMAO should be illegal to not remove it when not in use)
It hammered the bumper, cover, condenser and radiator and most of all... the frame member that runs between the two longerons under the radiator.
Surprisingly, after the police report, she continued to drive it off of the highway and exited at the next ramp. Got out and looked.
It was at that time, while idling in the cool weather, that the fan kicked on and rubbed out a hole in the radiator causing an express of steam and coolant.
MY QUESTION: Do any of us know if that lateral lower frame member can be replaced by bolting or would it need to be a welded repair.
It is just below the radiator/condenser, behind the bumper.
Can I DIY this repair with salvage yard parts?
Aside from the overheating, now, still drives straight and A/C still blows cold. Clean interior.
@280,000 miles it is worth about $750~$500 on KBB if it was perfect~rough condition.
driven/commute 220 miles per day 150 days a year since new... regularly maintained
This is the very best way to treat any engine, boil the moisture out of it on long trips on a regular basis.

I don't know. But I look at it this way. If you put a bunch of time and effort into it, when you're done you've got a 15 year old car - which before very long Hyundai will begin to discontinue parts. (The air bag clockspring for my 2005 Santa Fe has been discontinued.) On the other hand, can you get a better car for the price you would put into this one?
So yesterday was a score!
I visited a few huge pull a part places but never signed in, the counter girl (s) had vehicle inventory at the desk. No vehicles matching my description.
Then, on a fluke, I went again to my local scrapper and found what I needed including upgrade FOG LIGHTS and the switch, radiator, condenser, and support frame $198 and some trivial $12 core deposit
Below is the condenser damage from being poked with the Reese receiver. Had the cooling fan not rubbed through the radiator, it all still worked! Cold AC...
