Check engine light comes on and off every since I’ve had thecar. although the car runs fine the light been on/off for close to a year. I have to take it in for emissions and the light must be off before it will pass test. Has anyone else had this problem?

Maybe we can shed some light on this.
That light comes on to notify the operator the vehicle is having an emission problem.
The computer in the vehicle records a code(s) in it's memory when this happens. Some places will read the codes for you at no charge (Autozone is one of them).
Don't buy anything until we know what is wrong and why. The code only tells us what system is involved and not always what component is malfunctioning.
Now you have some idea of how this works and you don't need to spend any $$ until we know what we are after.
Still with us ?
