2013 spongy brake pedal after changing pads and rotors and bleeding brakes
 

We have a 2013 santa fe sport, I just changed the brake pads on all 4 with new rotors in the front. I then bled all 4 brakes in the order suggested by Hyundai. Air did come out of the front 2. The pedal is still spongy and if I consistently pump it when it is turned on I can slowly get it to go to the floor.

If I pump it when it is off it will get very hard and it won't move. But is spongy when the car is turned on.

The only thing I can think of is when I did the front 2 pads, I pushed the pistons back in without releasing the bleed screw. It seems like this is what most people do. I did then bleed it after and air did come out of the front 2.

Any ideas what would fix the squishy pedal? It wasn't like this before I did the brakes.

Did you have spongy brakes before the pads and rotor change?
If not then it did not have air in the system
And maybe your process of bleeding them caused air to go in???

Usually changing pads and rotors, there isn't a need to bleed brakes
Unless you needed to open the bleeder for whatever reason.
Pushing the pistons back in forces the fluid back into the reservoir
No air gets in the system.
Bleeding brakes can cause air to get in if not done correctly.

Get an assistant to pump brakes and then pump ... hold them.
You open the bleeder for a sec and then quickly close it
Repeat a few times to get all the air out
Remember to check reservoir to make sure it never loses too much fluid or air will get into the system
