Question 2020 Santa Fe wheel peeling.

Good morning. New to the forum & first post.

I have a 2020 Santa Fe with slightly over 6K miles & garaged... just noticed that the front, driver's side wheel is peeling in several spots. It kinda looks like plastic film that you would see when you get a new appliance; I've never seen that before with other vehicles and the other 3 wheels are fine.

Anyone else ever see something similar? Any idea if that issue would be covered by the warranty?

Thanks in advance for any input.

What causes flaking or peeling damage to the finish? It could be the result of a chip caused by a scrape against a curb, underlying deterioration from low-quality materials, or acidic wheel cleaners. Even brake dust itself is corrosive and cause damage to metallic wheels if not cleaned regularly. Try to contact your dealer and asked about the warranty.

butchokoy,

Thanks for the response. I have an appointment with the dealership next week to take a look. I'll pass along anything that might be of value to others afterward.

I took mine to dealer a couple months ago as my issue was all 4 wheels also. They said it was something about the black not coating to the wheels correctly and they had seen it a few times. It was covered 100% under hyundai warranty and they ordered and replaced all 4 rims.

Default Same issue here

I'm having the same issue with mine. Noticed it yesterday and purchased the car new less than 1 year ago. I took it to a dealership today and they told me Hyundai would not cover this because it is "caused by acidic wheel cleaners". Well, unless my car wash uses those for some reason, I've never used one. Interesting to hear others had this covered and glad I'm not the only one who experienced this. Going to bring it back to the dealer I purchased it from and make a big ol fuss about it and hope they will just take care of it. Keep us updated as each of you find out more!

All four of my wheels are peeling. Reached out to my service department today. 2020 Santa Fe. We'll see.
