A/C Qwerks, hacks?

When I set the A/C in my Santa Fe to blow from the dash vents as well as the foot vents, it automatically starts drawing in air from the outside. When I select recirculate, it will only blow from the dash.

In TX, that doesn't work because you can't cool 105F air fast enough.

Is there any work around for this problem?

Spoke,

Welcome to the forum. It gets hot in Kansas too, so it is safe to say we feel
your pain. In order to provide assistance to you, members will all ask the same
questions: What are you driving? (Year, make and model) What size motor do you
have? (2.4, 2.7 or 3.5) Is your AC unit a "Manual" or "Auto Climate" unit? and lastly,
What does your AC maintenance history look like? (Did you attempt a repair or did you
farm it out and it came back honked up)
If you can provide these basics, you will most likely get some assistance. There
are many experienced car owners that will help you, but you need to provide enough
basic information so the forum members can share their experiences.

Best Regards,
Paul

My question is, are you sure? I ask because when you select recirculate, the system seems to blow slightly harder and it will feel like there isn't anything from the floor vents when in reality, it's just the the dash vents are blowing slightly harder.

Yes, I'm certain. The light goes from recirculate to sucking in outside air and there's a noticeable shift in temperature an humidity.

Santa Fe 2011, 6 cylinder, I don't know how to tell the difference from manual to auto climate. No service history, its always worked. I got it at car max though, so could have been serviced before.

I'm confused by the problem. How long have you had this car? Do you have the owners manual?

Manual!

Coming up on two years. Many other posts about a few qwerks here and there to come.

How long has this problem been going on? Did it just start? Do you have the owners manual?

I'm not sure its "broken" so much as that's how it works. That doesn't mean that how it SHOULD work though.

Here's a video showing you the "problem".

AC Control and Recirculation

Spoke,

I did a functional test on my 06 (SM) and found that it allows me
to switch to recirculate in various HVAC modes so I think you are justified
in thinking yours ought to work too. I went out and grabbed some data
for your (CM), second generation from a 2010 database. Not able to get
newer data yet.
Not real sure what to recommend beyond the AC Control Module at this
point, might be an intake actuator malfunction too. I do not have
experience testing this series of vehicle, however, it appears challenging to
say the least. Still looking into the DTC codes to see if there may be some
sort of HVAC code to look for in the OBDII system. If you send a PM with
your email address I will send you schematic and photo information as the
files are too large to upload to this site.
I was not able to view your video. FYI

Best Regards,

Paul

Sure, Paul. However, I don't know how to do that.

I clicked the hyperlink to your member page, but don't see a "private message" or email option there.

If we can't PM, I'll just quickly put an email up and take it down once I get the email.
