Default Crankshaft Oil Seal Problem!

I have just replaced the crankshaft oil seal on a Santa Fe 2ltr Petrol, (16v engine). I ran it without the timing covers on to check for leaks, and it leaks!!
The leak appears to be coming from the outside of the seal, rather than around the crank. Is there supposed to be any loctite or similar to hold the seal in place? I've removed the new seal and it may well have been spinning with the crank as it has oil all around the outside edge face. When i removed the original seal it took a fair bit if effort to get it out, but when I removed the replacement it came out very easily! Another new seal has been ordered,
but It won't be with me for nearly a week. (the downside of living in the sticks in France!). Any advice?????
Cheers,

Tim
