From http://www.hmaservice.com

1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.

(Refer to the Body group - Crash pad).

3. Remove the crash pad center speaker (A) after loosening the screws. Avoid damaging retaining clips.

4. Remove the center facia panel (A) after loosening the screws.
(Refer to the Body group - Crash pad).

5. Remove the connectors.

6. Remove the mounting bolts then remove the audio unit (A).

7. Remove the audio unit after disconnecting the audio connectors and cable.

8. Installation is the reverse of removal.

In the description above it says:

4. Remove the center facia panel (A) after loosening the screws.
(Refer to the Body group - Crash pad).

Whey you go to the "Body Group - Crash Pad" section under "Center Fascia Panel Replacement" it tells you to:

"1. Remove the crash pad lower panel.
2. Remove the center lower garnish (A)."

The picture shows what the "center lower garnish" is but provides no explanation of what the "crash pad lower panel" is. Can anyone tell me. Also, are both of these just pried off or are there screws to remove?

The "components" part of the online manual for this vehicle is missing a picture so that is no help.

I have everything ready to install the new radio in my 2008 Santa Fe, but can't figure out this part and don't want to damage the garnish.

no explanation of what the "crash pad lower panel" is.
The lower crash pad panel is directly below the steering wheel:

Lower Panel Replacement

1. Remove the crash pad side cover.

2. Remove the switch assembly (A).

3. Loosen the mounting screw, remove the lower panel (B).

4. Disconnect the connector (A).

5. Remove the reinforcing panel(A).

6. Installation is the reverse of removal.
