Fuel System Additive
Hey gents. First post! I have a 07 SF Limited 12,500 miles. As part of my 12000 mile service, my dealer suggested a new air filter and fuel system service.
Now I am no master mechanic, but I do wrench...................So the airfilter is clean as a whistle, I see no reason to replace it. But my question is about the fuel system service. Do any of you guys use additives like Chevron Techron Plus? I can only assume a dealers fuel service plan implies they will use an additive to maintain the systems delivery of fuel. Is it safe to use additives in new car like this, is there any reason for or against. Why should I pay them to pour in a bottle of additive? Your input is appreciated! Shawn |
RE: Fuel System Additive
Techron is the only additive I use. I like it alot. I use it only once or twice a year.

I like to use Redline SI-1 Complete Fuel Ststem cleaner. http://www.redlineoil.com/products_fueladditives.asp
It is a detergent, most injector cleaners are just lighter petroleum products with little to no detergent to clean. I use a full bottle in a full tank of gas after each oil change. |
