location of purge valve ('01 2.7L)
 

I was hoping somebody could point out where the purge valve is on the 01 Santa Fe 2.7L v6. Its been stalling whenever I fill it with gas. I got the new purge valve from the dealer I just need to know where it goes. Prefer a picture if anybody has one. Thanks

Look at where the accell cable and cruise cables are attached to the bracket bolted to intake back by bulkhead... it is under that bracket on another bracket.

Thanks sbr711. I was able to find and replace it. It was indeed in a very tight spot. I've included pictures to hopefully help somebody else out.

Before I started I unplugged the negative terminal on the battery for safety, don't want any sparks igniting any fumes.

Picture 1 below is the actual purge valve (this is the old one that I took out actually).

Picture 2 is the location when looking under the hood. It's tucked way in back under those two wires as sbr711 noted. Not a lot of room to work.

Picture 3 is the valve located in the rubber gasket that keeps it in place. I tried to highlight the important parts. Sorry, the wires are blocking some of the view. The area highlighted in red is the rubber gasket that holds it in place. It just slides out once you have it disconnected. The two areas in blue are where the compression clamps are holding the hoses in place. The last one in yellow is the power that you'll need to disconnect.

I started by disconnecting the power and the bottom (left nozzle when looking under the hood from the front). Then it just slid out of the rubber gasket at which point I could disconnect the third and final clamp and hose. Put the hose back on the new part, slide it back into the rubber gasket (note that there is a little notch on top of the part that acts as a guide to make sure you are putting it into the gasket the right way. Once it's in connect the other hose and clamp, and finally the power.

All done. It really only takes about 5-10 minutes to replace this part. Hope this helps somebody else.

Done! It cost $48 dollars at the dealer and took 10 minutes (thanks to the information and pictures above). Thanks to all, but especially santafe2001 for the great pictures and instructions!

My car now starts up right away after a tank fill up!

Glad to help. At least we both wont stall anymore filling up the gas :)
