P0335 Error code on 2005 Santa Fe
 

My wifes 2005 Sante Fe has been doing wierd things. She will be driving along and suddenly have no power when stepping on the gas. She pulls over and the car stalls. She lets it sit 3-4 minutes and it starts right up. Check engine light stays on for a while and then goes out.
I bought a Code Reader and came up with "P0335" "Crankshaft Position"
What does this mean. and what is the fix?

2.4,, 2.7,, 3.5 ??

0335 is indicative that crank position sensor is acting up.. get it replaced before it leaves you with a nice tow bill from somewhere out in the sticks at the most inopertune time.

2.7 eat crank sensors al the time..

2.4 is not very often, but to do it you be best to replace the timing belt, balance belt, tensioner, and drive belts on way back together.

3.5, dont see crank position codes here, but anything is possible,, be another for timing belt replace with 2 drive belts and tensioner.

The car has the 2.7 engine. Where is the sensor located? Is it something that I can do, or must be done by the dealer? We just did the timing belt at the dealer less than 20K miles ago. The car has 93K now and runs great, except for this problem. Thanks for the response!

Mounted to block, radiator side, behind starter.. if you good with tools, you can change it yourself.

With engine cold (so you dont get burned by catalyst and hot starter/engine) reach up in and finger the pigtail off the sensor body.. if it is cracked, replace it.. you will fine sleeve hard and brittle, it'll crack, and the insulation on the 3 small wires inside flakes off and wires short to each other and make for poor jerky run, stall, or pop the ECM fuse with a crank / no fire concern.
