Problem with timing belt
 

Hi everyone,

I am a new member. My ride is a 2007 Sante Fe GLS 2.7 liters V6 that I just acquired about two months ago. The timing belt got loose after I started the engine the other day. What would be the best procedure should I follow to keep it tight. Any suggestions out there? :o

Make sure the ignition is switched off or the battery disconnected. To even out the tension in the belt, use a spanner or socket wrench on the crankshaft-pulley bolt and turn the crankshaft two full turns clockwise . Tighten the locking bolt first to hold the tensioner in its new position.

Don't know exactly what you mean by timing belt got loose.
But, it doesn't matter. Hopefully, you can re-set the timing and the engine will run.
Hoping there is no engine damage.

Do not drive it,calm down,and Google -timing belt change procedure.You will find more than necessary,for GOOD understanding how important is not to screw up with anything around timing belt components. In my opinion-read it,and read it again.I am not in position to write poetry here,there are much smarter people than me out there,but if you want drive this thing,and not destroy engine to fast in the process,everything there must be done just right,and tight (torque)
