Sante Fe grill chipping

The black paint on my 2009 Santa Fe front grill is chipping off. The chrome seems to be okay. Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this problem. I pointed it out to my dealer on the last service visit. He said that he would check with his manager but I never heard back. Anyone else?

They all do that you see (for the GLS or limited only)... Hyundai made the grill in chrome and then paint the back part. Mine is chipping quite a bit after 33K km due to rocks and other debris hitting it...

I haven't even hit 8500mi on my 08 Limited yet and I too am noticing the black chipping off of the grille.

Bummer.....it really takes away from the great look fo the car. My Escape never did that. Looks like I'll be touching up the paint by hand.

My wife's '07 had the same problem last year. The dealer told me it was due to normal wear and tear and road debris. I didn't buy it. I went to the Regional Service Manager for Hyundai who in turn had his local District Service Manager inspect the car. THe DSM agreed that the problem was not normal wear and tear and authorized a new grill to be installed at no charge. The new one still looks good as new after a year. Don't give up if the you are not satisfied with what the dealer tells you. Pursue all avenues through Hyundai. JJF
