starting problem

My problem is when I put gas in my car it will not start the first tme I try. After that it starts perfectly fine. I have changed the fuel pump because thats what the dealership told me was wrong after doing a $100.00 diagnostics evaluation. I went thru this with my last Santa Fe with the check engine light coming on and after replacing about 7 different things they finally found the right one. This problem seems to be more expensive guesses. Would appreciate someones help who may have also experienced this problem. It has now developed a new problem the car now does not stop running when I turn off the key. I have to get back in the vehicle and step on the gas peddle, doing this stops the engine. Could this also be related to the purge valve.

Problem starting after putting fuel in the tank, and it runs crappy for a bit, then clears ??????

Just a wild guess, you have a 2.7L powering your vehicle ??

Not any info posted as there is 3 engines used and each has it' own quirks...

Simple, the purge valve is hanging open, and purging the Evap canister of fumes in an un-controlled fashion,,, hence the rough run and what not till the vapors are cleared from the charchol bed.

Hi I just wanted to thank you for your help. I had the purge valve changed this morning and filled the tank and the car started just turning the key. It also stopped my new problem of the engine not stopping after I turned off the key and took it out. Again thank you and if I have any more problems I hope you are on line.

So I hope your member name isn't true now. One small problem shouldn't cause you to stop buying cars from a great company that is elevating in quality.
