Stuck hatchback, 2003
Does anyone have a suggestion for un-jamming a stuck hatchback? I think a piece of cardboard was slammed in the latch. I tried pushing from the outside, and indide,...no help.[:@]

RE: Stuck hatchback, 2003
In the past I have resolved such problems with a block of wood and a hammer. You bent it, so bend it back.

RE: Stuck hatchback, 2003
Placement of said block?

RE: Stuck hatchback, 2003
Well, without looking at it, I would guess you bent the hinge assembly. Close trunk and bang on lid where hinge meets the lid. Try not to damage the lid. Use an artistic approach, carefully examine how it works, and act accordingly. This is hammer maintainence, not rocket science.

If you bent the latch, then examine how the latch fits with the lid, bend it back accordingly.

My bad, you are saying it's jammed closed. Can you see the hinge bolts to disassemble?
|
RE: Stuck hatchback, 2003
Can't see the hinge bolts with it closed. I'm glad folks are thinking about this problem. I'm thinking about using a pry bar under the bottom, near the latch. But I'll wait a while. I think a betteridea will surface soon. [sm=signs007.gif]

Did you try to press down on the lid while actuating the opener to allow the catch to open, then let off the lid when you hear it actuate?

Didn't try that one yet.
