Undercoating issue w/ 2017 SF Sport

I just got a 2017 Santa Fe Sport Turbo with all the bells and whistles plus a tow bar. I will never use that so I took it off. While I was underneath the car, I noticed that the undercoating job was severely messed up. They did the driver's side, but almost nothing on the passenger's side. I took it back to the dealer and they said it looked odd and went to look at all the ones they had on the lot. He said they were all that way! I don't know if I believe that or not, but I will be driving on some gravel roads in the future and I want the bottom protected. They use a lot of salt here in Iowa. Anyone out there hear of anything like this before?
