What does this part do???
 

Hi,
We heard a nasty metallic rattle coming from the rear hatch door. Removed the inside panel, see the attached photo.




We finally found the 'loose'bpart and removed it. See photo.




What is this part, what does it do. Seems like a perhaps like a round magnet??? Thought it may be part of the back windshield wiper, but it works fine. We removed the part and now are puzzled. The back lights also work.

What part? I can't see what you are taking about in that one picture you posted.

OK I managed to add the detail photo of the mysterious part. It is (was) located in the center of the hatch door from the inside of course. It was difficult to remove and we needed to remove the panel for the windshield wiper in the back to get it out. But it does not seem to affect the function of the wiper now that the part is out. thanks again for considering what this is...... Gaby
