06 Sonata GL 4cyl 5speed manual MPG
Dear All, Just ordered My Sonata w/ the 4 cylinder 5 speed manual package. Any feedback on what to expect ?
I am hoping for great gas mileage. I got a great deal on it and it's getting great reviews. What about some real world feedback, good, bad, or otherwise.

I can't tell you what to expect with the manual transmission, but I have the 4-cylinder and automatic transmission. When I'm doing strictly highway driving, I get between 32 and 34 MPG (my highest so far is 34.6). When it's a mixture of city and highway driving, it's usually between 29 and 32 MPG. As far as the highway driving goes, it doesn't seem to matter if I do 55 or 75 MPH. My highest mileage came on a 7-hour interstate highway trip averaging 72 MPH.
Hope that helps a little. To me the 4-cylinder engine has decent power without the MPG woes of the 6-cylinders.

Hey I have the 5 spd, I haven't taken numbers down in a while but my next tank fillup ill give you an idea, I believe around 3k miles on a vacation road trip I averaged 30 mpg going 80-85 the entire time. I'm also thinking about putting a K&N air filter thats already pre designed for the stock airbox to help gain a little more hp and possibly a tad better in town gas mileage, though 24 is not bad at all.

too bad k&n don't make a filter for the 3.0 or 3.3 L engines yet - only the 2.0 and 2.4 L engines have

- it's 1% horsepower gain for every 10 degrees F that the air is cooler. i doubt being in the stock airbox will make it any cooler but the k&n filter is cleanable with the recharger kit (still have that from my last car's cold air intake) - will save $ in the long run
