06 sonata power loss

Any advice is appreciated....

During highway driving, car intermittently powers down to about 25 MPH, won't respond to attempts to increase throttle, starts to sound like the timing is off (kind of like a 'put put put' thing...technical term I know :D). I turn the car off, wait about 30 sec and then restart. Put put thing is gone, can drive with no problem until this situation happens again...

thanks....

Go to your local Autozone, tell them you have a "check engine" light, and do a free trouble code scan. Don't let them diagnose the problem or sell you parts. Write down the codes (if any) and report back here.

Thanks,

What could cause this? Sensor? Any relation to the most recent recall????

Take it to the dealer if it's still under warranty, or have the code scan done. It's shooting in the dark to speculate, could be all kinds of things.

Quick bump to refresh this topic. Dealer replaced the accelerator pedal sensor (?) in august. Problem went away for a while and rerurned this last week. Dealer now says throttle sensor needs replaced ($280). Am I getting ripped??

Also, I had it scanned at the parts store last week and they said no codes were indicated. BUT it was a young dude and said that the problem had to be ocurring at the time of the scan....I thought the computer stored this information....

thanks...
