2000 hyundai sonata timing belt broke

i have a 2000 sonata 2.4l 4cyl dohc 16valve, manual trans. was on my way home from school, going about 65, when the belt broke. im looking at options that i have as to fixing the problem. im looking at possibly swapping the motor out, but im having problems finding an exact match that is worth it. is there a site i can go to or a thread pertaining to what other motors are a direct fit? another question, i know its an interference motor, so i know most likely i bent up some valves, do i have to send the head out to get machined? any help is greatly appreciated. as i said im looking at options. thanks

I'd first see how bad the damage is before buying a used engine. You may just need the head rebuilt. If the damage is too bad and you need an engine swap, I'd suggest buying a remanufactured engine with a warranty, not a used engine. And next time, replace the timing belt every 60k miles to avoid this problem.

Thanks novaresource, any idea as to how much a machine shop would charge to machine the head? I'm kinda needing the car asap as I got school and everything. Thanks again.
