2004 Sonata V6

My 2004 Sonata V6 has 60K miles, suddently it has no power as if maybe a fuel problem. 1. Where is the fuel filter? 2. Can I change the fuel pump with out removing the gas tank? 3. Has any body had this problem? 4. What should I do? 5. What else could it be? It is not drivable as is!

Is the engine BLAAAHHHHHHHH when you accell, or does it shake and bump with the MIL flashing at you ?

1. Where is the fuel filter?
In the fuel pump module in the fuel tank...

2. Can I change the fuel pump with out removing the gas tank?
Yes, but I do not think this is the problem..

3. Has any body had this problem?

4. What should I do?
Get it repaired, is the MIL illuminated ?? Is it solid, or flashing ? If flashing, get it repaired before you kill the cat(s).

5. What else could it be? It is not drivable as is!
60,000, I would be looking for plugs and wires if it is indeed mis-firing,,, get it scanned and se what you have to deal with.

keep us filled in

Yes, BLAAAHHHHHHHH when I accellerate

I found the fuel pump access panel in the trunk.

I also found a mouse nest under the intake plastic cover, I have not found chewed wires.

Today when I tried again the trouble shoot the problem, the problem was gone. I don't know what the changed sence last night when it did'nt have any power at all. just BLAAAHHHHHHHH when I accellerate.

Today lots of power and no issue.

My thinking is maybe the mouse chewed a wire somewhere that is shorting intermittenly. Or the mouse nest was wet from rain the night before, causing the injectors to short out.

If it was a fuel pump or a fuel filter would the problem just go away?

I know i'm grasping for ideas, but eager to read any sugestions. if I dont solve the problem in will come back at the worst timming.

If you have an idea, i'm interested.
