2005 Hyundai Sonata-brake switch-brakes locking

Question: I have a 2005 hyundai Sonata. In trying to be proactive, I took the car to dealership to get the timing belt changed at 60,000 miles and then again at 130,000. at the 130,000 change the dealer told me that in about 10,000 miles I would need front brakes so around 8000 miles more I took it to get the brakes changed. Two weeks later the brake lights came on by themselves while parked and cruise would not work. took back to shop and they said the brake switch was real loose. They tighted up. drove away from the dealer and withing 2 minutes my car would not go over 40 mph and started smelling like something burning on way back to dealer. They said the switch should have nothing to do with that. they said I needed a master cylinder. $580.00 later drove home 60 miles and the next day driving 15 miles fm work it started acting the same. They sent a wrecker to get it. They are puzzled and now are saying that the master cylnder had to be adjusted. We have been told by another mechanic that if they tighted the brake switch too hard that could have caused pressure and the callipers (?) to lock up causing this to happen. Is that true?

Yes, that is very possible.
