On the rear deck I believe there is space to install a Subwoofer. Does any one know if the wiring is there already?

i have a set of subs installed in mine, i didnt do it myself, didnt want to mess things up, but im pretty sure it didnt come with any wiring soryy

 

It's not all that hard to run the wires yourself. You just have to pull some trim pieces out, which is kind of time consuming but not very hard. And while the work is in progress you can still drive the car.

 

The 2006 Sonata has a 7.875" cut-out with four mount points. This opening exists in the rear-deck of every '06 Sonata; however, the speaker harness will not be present if the factory sub (typ 2Ω) was not previously installed. If the speaker harness is present but the sub is not, then the stock Infinity-brand dedicated mono-block amp (p/n/: 96370F) is likely also present (typically mounted on the pass-side inside the trunk, above the wheel-well, behind the formed trunk liner--easily confirmed with a DMM--and you can use the existing stock amp to power the aftermarket sub of compatible impedance.



This opening is sized for the OEM-spec'd Infiniti-brand 8" sub (p/n 96371). Note: No aftermarket 8" subs drop into this opening. It is exponentially easier to mount a speaker from below, though you must use a custom-made adapter ring for this method.

 

I would like to add to Lothian's thorough and accurate reply. My base plane Jane Sonata came with no subwoofer but it had a factory 8'' hole and no wiring. I purchased a cheap subwoofer and amplifier from Amazon along with some 16 and 8 gauge wire a 30 amp fuse and a plastic 8'' speaker cover. You can run a short wire from one of your existing rear speakers to the amp and then to the sub......there are a bunch of U Tube videos on the subject. Although, this is a lowly single sub setup using a low powered amp, you will b amazed how good your tunes will now sound. It might have something to do with the small size of the car but you won't regret doing this upgrade. If you would like I can post some pictures of my set up...just let me know. Good luck

Sorry I'm tardy with these pictures. Attended a wedding with the misses in Michigan. What's with the groom's friends wearing stove pipe high water pants which show multi colored socks with long tipped shoes and a tight fitting jacket.....yuck! My baggy suit from the 50s drew disgusted looks. Anyway, my radio setup shows a button arrangement on the steering wheel. My existing wheel had a plastic blank in that location. After pulling off the horn cover I noticed some wires and attached them to the new switch. I then attached the wires under the dash to a little box that had a I phone like ear bud plug to the back of my used Pioneer radio. Apparently, most if not all 3rd party market radios have that plug socket. I'm able to adjust the volume and change songs thru the steering wheel....neat. Next you will notice the different color radio mount in place of the old radio.....couldn't match the dash color....cost about $25 bucks and love the cutout where I can place my I phone. Last I mounted the Amazon 8'' speaker and used Sony low power amp in the trunk. To make it tidy I put the white plastic around the wires. I especially like that the radio is bluetooth.....no wires hanging down and works every time. Did this about 4 years ago and I still enjoy the nice bass....u will too! good luck

Do u know if this car have an amp hooked up to the factory speakers?

If there is an opening for a sub what size goes in there ?
