2009 v6 engine noise at startup
#11
I have a 2009 Azera with the same noise on startup 15 to 30 seconds, the dealer said it was normal as it takes that time to lubricate the chain on startup.
I do nt agree and wanted to use an additice like Lucas or STP but concerned they may harm the engine and voud the warrantee.

There's a TSB for the timing chain tensioner #08-EM-001-1. I think it applies to 2009 V6. Your dealer doesn't want to deal with it because it requires removing the motor to fix it. It talks about pinpoint the source of the sound, then checking for the sound again after 10 minutes.

But the link must be broken or the file has been removerd. Can you tell me where else I could try?

3.3l v6 engine sonata noise
on cold mornings 30-40 degree f. I hear the tapping.
I read that the 3.3l is an aluminum block with steel sleeves and
aluminum head cylanders.
I put it in gear after less than a minute running and I move easily up a
hill after another minute the sound decreases to a minimum.
the aluminum doesn't expand as you would expect an iron block.
giving tender care at start up will reduce the tapping in my case.
a warning: if you know there is slack in the engine.....do not gun the throttle
