2010 Sonata GLS Trunk switch woes!
 

Hi, The trunk will only open with the keyfob, the switch doesn't work. I am looking for troubleshooting tips to identify if the switch itself is bad of if I am looking at something else. Does anyone know the voltage that I should be reading at the terminal of the Switch? I am only getting about 3 Volts, as opposed to the 12 that I can read across the terminals of the gas tank switch.
If there are any schematics to hack tests that I can do to test before starting to order parts, it would be much appreciated!

it's an electric switch. Not a cable or anything like that.

If it was the mechanism, the key fob thing wouldn't work.

I'm not sure if you have to take the interior door off to get to the back of the switch if you were to replace it. (I think it's only $20 or so)

But if you can get it out, can you short the connector with a piece of wire and see if it works? If not, you could have a break in the wire.

You can try to spray it with "De-Ox it." (electrical contact cleaner) You can buy that in any autoparts store. You may have to work the switch back and forth to get the liquid in the switch mechanism. after it's soaked and dry (it dries super quick) then give it a shot. Warning, this stuff smells a lot, you'll need to leave the door or windows open for a good long while.

I'm not exactly certain where you are testing the voltage from. Fusebox?
