if you have an se it comes with 18 inch rims and low profile
tires. I've found these "performance" tires wear quicker, are
nosier, and harder riding. In the past found dunlop to ride,
at least, a little softer.

I guess you should have done a better test drive before you bought. Like was said above, that's probably from the larger wheels.

I just bought my Sonata on the 3rd. I noticed this pull, but I also noticed that when I turn and let my steering wheel retract, it doesn't go to center, it is turned slightly left. When I hold the steering wheel straight, the car seems to go straight.

Last night I checked the pressure in the front wheels. Passenger came up at 30 PSI but the drivers came up at about 28 PSI. Now there have been no lights about the pressure being low and I don't know why. I thought I read somewhere that if it is +/- 5 PSI it won't go off.

I am assuming that if I bring the pressure up to 33 PSI on each tire, that should help.

Does this sound correct?

Thanks,
Misterroy

Just went for my first oil changed bought my GL auto in August and had a recall on my car (regarding steering)...but all was good

This is also my first post on the forums ... I really want to add a lot of chrome accent to my new sonata, get aftermarket rims, and possibly dual exhaust and that's it. Clean and simple.

Already have my windows tinted in Sept 5% (limo) back, 15% fronts

I have the SE with the Hankook Optimo H431 225/45 R18 tires. They are noisy but no so much that I cannot enjoy taking a trip. I will replace them sometime but I can live with them for now. I keep tabs on them weekly and keep the pressure at 33 psi. This keeps the car traveling straight and the noise at a minimum. I still have not had the recall work done. I understand the the software update helps with the highway steering sensitivity. I will have to stop by my dealer to have it done soon.

Well, I took my 11 SE to the dealer on Saturday and it was out of alignment so they did an alignment. However, I noticed that when I turn, the steering doesn't return to dead center. It returns to a little left of center. If I straighten out the steering wheel, the car will go straight, but then the wheel will turn just slightly left and the car starts drifting again.

Any ideas? This has to go back to the dealer again this week. I have to get this fixed.

Thanks,

Was there a problem before the alignment? Sometimes when they align the car they don't center the steering wheel correctly, but this shouldn't cause the drift.

No, the alignment didn't fix the problem, but it really isn't a drift. It's more an over-correction when the steering wheel is returning from the turn. It goes past center to and stops turned a little to the left. If the steering wheel is centered, the car goes straight. However, while I am going straight, the steering wheel will try to go back to that "a little left" position. So, it seems like there is some mis-calibration somewhere. Other than that, the car is fantastic.

I called the dealer and I am taking it back to them after work. 2 trips to the shop in 5 days of owning the car. At least they are giving me a loaner.

I hope this isn't a pattern that will be developing.

After reading, I noticed that I neglected to say that I can get it to over correct the opposite way if I tug on the wheel real quick and let go. It will over correct itself to the right sometimes, but also it will go center or be on that left side. Seems to be inconsistent turning left but consistent turning right or going straight.

I am taking it in tonight - I will let them figure it out. Four times in the shop for the same issue and there are some Lemon Law issues. I hope it doesn't get that far, I really like the car and want to keep it.

OK, so the dealer called. He said that 2 people drove the car and they weren't able to identify any pulling other than normal road crowning. They also said that since the car is so new, to wait 1500 miles for the suspension to settle in and bring it back for inspection.

Does this make sense?

Thanks to all for the help.

That's funny....

What are your actual current alignment numbers... did you get a real alignment where they set the car up for a specific purpose, or was it 1 of them "it's in specs" kind of things ??
