2012 Sonata gas mileage

My 2012 2.4L limited has about 600 miles on it, mostly "around town" driving. I seem to be getting 17 - 18 mpg, although it does pick up when on the highway. Is there a "break-in" period? My Grand Cherokee gets better mileage. Any thoughts? Thank you all!

Yes, it gets better as the engine loosens up. However, city driving kills fuel economy.

Wordnew, Have a Sonata '12 SE with about 700miles. We have done some short trips of 60-100 miles and are seeing about 33mpg. Of course driving around town we are getting the same as you.

My 2011 4cyl Sonata LTD has given me great mileage from day one. In town I get 27 mpg, and on the road I can get as high as 36 mpg when on cruise control. If you push it like my wife does, the mileage drops to around 20 mpg.

Love the car and have only one dislike, non folding mirrors. I had to replace one already at $300.
