Intermittent no start - 2006 Sonata V-6
Hello
I just replaced the ignition switch in my V-6 Sonata (2006) I have the intermittent no-start issue. Turn key to on, turn to start and nothing. Usually takes 10-15 tries before the car finally engages the starter motor.
All my research lead to the switch. This is still not the issue. The ignition switch was an easy swap, as it only took 5 mins.
I am just curious if anyone else has the same problem after replacement of the switch?
I need a wiring diagram for the ignition circuit. The only other switches I can think of that would cause this would be the Neutral Safety Switch (inhibitor) or possibly the starter motor/solenoid.
Any suggestions or info would be greatly appreciated.

What kind of mileage is on the odometer? It is a 2006 and we don't have any idea how many times the starter was used,
We could be looking at a tired starter assy which may need to be replaced.
The better thing to do here is to confirm power is getting to the starter itself when attempting to start the engine. If the power and signal to start is present, at the starter, replace the starter motor.. If not then you could back track to where those needs are lost.

I appreciate the follow ups
This car has 248,000 miles on it. I have owned it new since day 1.
I assume it could be connections. I am well versed in electronics and mechanical abilities.
In the past with my older cars a faulty or 'loose" ground would result in slow crank, or clicking crank. I guess I will grab my DVOM and check for voltage drop across some circuits.
Good to know about the faulty ground problem Hyundai is know for.

Well quick side note. I struggle with projects, anxiety and depression.
I have dealt with the intermittent issue for quite sometime. Except for a Saturday one month ago I had to get my daughter to HS for dance. I sat in the garage trying to start for over 30 mins.
This was my breaking point.
Turns out when engaged the starter was getting the necessary voltage. A slight bang of the starter and viola it starts.
Replaced the starter, and have not had an issue since.
