AC Compressor bypass

I've looked around but no luck. Are there any AC Compressor bypass pulley kits for a 2005 Hyundai Sonata 2.7?

My gf needs her car, any help is appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I believe the wording is "buy a shorter belt", and remove the idler there where the belt makes the turn to the A/C pulley.. You'll be on your own for the belt, as I have never seen a 2.7 w/out A/C..

Pretty sure it will be a 6PKxxxx, you just need to figure the new length to make the pulleys, and be short enough the tension arm will pull tight in mid travel.

Most Hyundai have a re-man compressor on the shelf, we have 1 or 2 usually, cost a lot less than the new part.

yeah i though of that but i dont believe that it will put enough pressure on the water pump but i will take a look, thanks for the response.

Water pump is run by the timing belt.

Drive belt only runs off crank to alternator, P/S, and A/C...

Step four

I replaced the belt, routed it so it's excluding the AC compressor, but now the power steering pulley is making a snapping sound every third rotation, and shredding the belt. I had a shop look at it, and they tell me that re-routing the serpentine belt to exclude the AC compressor isn't even possible, and is the reason for the snapping sound, nothing wrong with the power steering that they can see... Mind you, this is on the 2.7L V6 2005 Sonata.

Why is this not possible? Or have I run across blundering fools?

Help!

They are probably telling you it isn't possible because it really isn't possible or it is something that they do not want to recommend, or do, because then they can become liable. We have an RM version available here: COMPRESSOR ASSEMBLY made by Hyundai. #977013K220RM.

quickly looking at delta engine belt setup I can't figure a reason why it should not work. You can even keep the idler pulley - actually I believe it must stay in place since it makes the belt not hit the motor mount.

it's even official:

so much for the shop telling 'not possible' ...

Wow, sounds like they just didn't want to do it.

Belt length

It was a pain in the *** but I got a 61 1/8 belt and that fit and runs fine
